This role will have occasional on site expectations. Directs or manages aspects of accounting operations of the company, including revenue recognition and fixed assets. Proposes and implements corporate accounting strategies and drives operational and process enhancements for accounting functions which may include cost and general accounting, accounts payable, accounts receivable, fixed assets, and leases. Produces prescribed, periodic financial reports, maintains accounting systems for recordkeeping and oversees a chart of accounts. Collaborates with various groups within Finance and Accounting and various operational groups throughout the company to ensure business process and accounting systems are aligned. Job Scope: Critical accounting role with key responsibilities for end-to-end management of the month-end close process, including preparation and review of journal entries, account reconciliation, and reporting. Reports directly to the Senior Director of Accounting. ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES • Participate in the revenue accounting month-end close process, including the preparation of journal entries, reconciliations, and analytical review. • Leads the fixed asset accounting team and develops financial accounting policies, practices, and procedures that compliment all accounting operational systems and GAAP standards. Ensures that all transactions and accounting policies meet federal regulations and standards. • Provides financial analyses and recommendations for strategic planning and direction. Coordinates the preparation of standard monthly, quarterly, and annual close and consolidation of the general ledger. Prepares and maintains the monthly close checklist and calendars, including the review of accounting journal entries and reconciliations. • Develops accounting organization strategies by contributing accounting and financial information, analysis and recommendations and establishes functional objectives that compliment organizational objectives. • Develops proper accounting controls and standards and ensures all accounting processes follow statutory requirements such as Sarbanes-Oxley. • Collaborates with internal auditors and supports period review of the effectiveness of internal controls and accounting processes. • Manages the strategic alignment of the Accounting department with other business systems and processes throughout the company. • Leads implementation and maintenance of accounting and reporting systems. Communicates changes in those systems and their impact to the organization. • Guides the analysis of accounting processes to enable management to evaluate costs and make financial plans and forecasts. • Follows prescribed legal guidelines and requirements. • Performs other job-related duties as assigned. • Experience hiring and leading diverse teams. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS Required Skills and Experience: • Five years of progressive experience hiring and leading a diverse team in an Accounting department managing accounting transactions and systems and creating financial reporting for review by senior leadership with relevant experience (industry or size) is required. • Must possess a strong knowledge and appreciation of General Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) in the United States, including ASC 606 (Revenue Recognition), ASC 842 (Leases) and ASC 350 (Intangibles). • Must be proficient with Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint) and experienced working in a large accounting ERP system. • Must have the ability to drive process and system enhancements and support of quarterly audit and internal compliance and controls. • Must have excellent interpersonal and verbal and written communications skills and be able to professionally interact with employees at all levels of the company. • Must have strong analytical and organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously with competing timelines effectively. • Must have proven ability to identify, analyze, and recommend solutions to complex problems. • Must be able to pay attention to detail and thrive in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment and works effectively and collaboratively across various departments to meet goals and deadlines. Preferred Qualifications: • CPA (Certified Public Accountant) or CA (Chartered Accountant). • Big 4 experience plus experience working for a Fortune 500 company. • Experience with Oracle, FloQast, and/or Workiva Wdesk. • Experience managing accounting for revenue in the retail sector and internal use software costs. Education/ Licensing/Certification: Graduation from an accredited institution with a bachelor’s degree in Accounting (BS, MAcc or MBA) or a related field or any combination of education and/or experience based on the table above is required. Physical Requirements Must be able to sit and/or stand for long periods at a time.
