Position Overview: Under the direction of the Director of Workers’ Compensation, the Workers’ Compensation Referral Coordinator answers incoming calls and assists patients, caregivers, and workers’ Compensation representatives with all inquiries related to Workers’ Compensation. The Workers’ Compensation Coordinator also receives Workers’ Compensation referrals and schedules them with the appropriate provider.
Essential Job Responsibilities:
- Answers inbound calls in a high-volume call center.
- Receives enters, and schedules workers’ compensation referrals with the appropriate physician/provider.
- Assists patients, caregivers, and workers’ compensation representatives with various inquiries and provides general assistance promptly.
- Communicates with the worker's compensation coordinators, adjusters, and NCMs to make sure the patients are scheduled promptly.
- Receives and forwards patient requests to appropriate clinical staff promptly.
- Enters patient information into the electronic health records (EHR) system.
- Recognizes and escalates complex issues to the Director of Workers’ Compensation.
- Maintains up-to-date knowledge of physician and provider schedules, clinic updates, business office protocols, etc.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Medical Interpreter: A Medical Translator is responsible for translating both verbal and written communication for Spanish-speaking patients.
Essential Job Responsibilities:
- Precisely and accurately interprets critical medical advice and information given by the provider into equivalent terminology in the patient's native (Spanish) language.
- Assists in translating medical text from English on behalf of internal and external patients; may translate patient education information as specifically requested.
- Establishes and maintains quality service and positive interaction with all patients, visitors, health care providers, and clinical employees.
- Assists with patient follow-up as necessary, including contacting patients with appointment reminders.
- Maintains strict patient confidentiality by HIPAA policies and standards.
- Provides occasional services outside of normal working hours on an as-needed basis (Saturday sports clinics, annual sports physicals, etc.).
- Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.
Education:
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- 1 - 2 years experience in medical office administration is highly preferred.
Other Requirements:
- Must be bilingual in Spanish.
- Must be able to complete tasks with a high degree of efficiency and accuracy while working in a fast-paced environment with frequent disruptions.
- Must demonstrate the ability to analyze data and resolve complex problems.
- Must have the ability to work independently while managing time and workload appropriately.
- Knowledge of medical terminology and procedures, knowledge of health insurance industry practices, and/or medical billing procedures preferred.
- Experience with medical scheduling/billing systems preferred.
- Exceptional customer service, interpersonal skills, and communication skills.
- Proficiency in electronic records systems is preferred.
- Must have strong data entry skills and demonstrated typing speed of 60 wpm.
