What are the responsibilities and job description for the Livestock District Manager position at BigIron?
We are looking for a self-motivated individual who has a good understanding of the cattle business both from a breeding stock & feeder cattle perspective. This person will call on farmers/ranchers actively in the cattle business to procure and list breeding stock to the online auction platform. This position will work to develop a trade territory, generate leads and finalize listings of cattle for monthly online sales. Long term you will develop a salesforce of independent sales reps (ISR’s) to assist in procuring livestock for our monthly sales. Proactively develop realistic goals with the assistance of the management team and ISR territories for achievable long term growth. A leader in motivating and challenging your team to build the overall business. This individual will be traveling 75% of the week with some overnight stay.
Job Responsibilities
- Build a sales forecast of potential cattle business available in trade area
- Make calls on potential prospects and assist ISR’s with developing their specific territories
- Ability to video and photograph groups or individual lots of cattle
- Establish relationships with livestock organizations, state cattle associations, breed associations
- Log and summarize all calls/appointments for review with the livestock team weekly
- Use good judgement to resolve any issues that may arise between a client and buyer
- Comply with all BigIron policies and procedures as published by BigIron
- Attend all required meetings on a timely basis and provide input and feedback as requested
- Additional duties as assigned
- Thorough knowledge of the cattle industry, understanding of current market opportunities for purebred and commercial cattle and ability to introduce cattlemen to new alternative online marketing options
- Bachelor’s Degree or 2 year Ag associates degree or 5 years of livestock sales experience
- Valid driver’s license and auto insurance
- Proficient in Microsoft Office – Outlook, Word, Excel, Power Point and other company applications
- Strong organizational, personable and customer service skills
