Duties and Responsibilities:
Under the general supervision of the Director of Operations, the Hearing Instrument Specialist is responsible for performing diagnostic testing and providing support to the on-site Audiologist with hearing instruments. The Hearing Instrument Specialist maintains an excellent working relationship with patients, including children over five years old, adolescent, adult, and geriatric hearing, as well as vendors and colleagues.
- Support the Audiologist with their duties in accordance with applicable laws and regulations.
- Performs diagnostic evaluation and prepares patients for testing.
- Prepare exam rooms between patient appointments, sanitize equipment, and ensure supplies are fully stocked.
- Shuts down all equipment in treatment rooms at the end of the day.
- Tracks orders to confirm that all equipment arrives in a timely manner ready for the patient fitting appointment.
- Maintain clinic records on hearing aids, earmolds, equipment repair, equipment inventory and supply maintenance.
- Requires a working knowledge of the auditory system and auditory rehabilitation.
Minimum Education Requirements:
- Hearing Instrument Specialist License
- High school diploma or GED.
- Two years’ experience in an audiology or ENT office.
- Experience with hearing aids.
- Working knowledge of the auditory system and auditory rehabilitation.
Minimum Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Knowledge of CPT and ICD-10 coding and medical terminology.
- Excellent interpersonal skills that allow effective working relationships.
- Accurate, detail oriented, organized, with a high standard of a job well done.
- Flexible and adaptable to change.
- Bilingual in Spanish preferred.
Work Environment:
Primary work location is in a general office environment, with noise level of office conditions.
Physical Requirements:
Ability to walk, stand, bend, squat, climb, kneel, turn, and twist on an intermittent or sometimes continuous basis. Ability to be able to lift up to 50lbs. Ability to grasp, push, pull objects such as files, file cabinets drawers and reach overhead. Ability to operate computer, printer, fax and telephone. Requires normal, correctable vision and hearing, and the ability to accurately discern duties as necessary to perform job functions.
