SUMMARY:
In the industrial electrician role, you will ensure the continued functioning of electrical equipment through its proper installation, maintenance, and repair. You must be able to understand technical documents, such as schematics that detail job instructions. You must also adhere to the statutory codes that apply to your work. Success in this role will be demonstrated by the continued successful completion of assigned tasks with minimized equipment downtime.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Installs, repairs, and maintains the electrical parts of industrial equipment
- Works individually or as part of a team to successfully complete projects
- Follows safety procedures and adheres to electrical codes
- Correctly interprets technical documents for the proper execution of assignments
- Conducts quality assurance measures and inspections
- Ability to work and troubleshoot pumps, assemble, and maintain equipment. Such as switch gears, motor controls, electrical panels, CT cabinets, conveyor systems, lighting, and power supplies
- Installing power supply wiring and conduit.
- Perform preventive maintenance to all mechanical equipment throughout the plant. This will include routine tasks, such as lubrication of machinery, seal replacement, and cleaning of parts during an overhaul.
- Accepts additional responsibility and assignments from local plant and management which may not be specifically listed in the job description for this position.
- Will be required to participle in plant safety meetings and other company safety and improvement programs.
- Ability to work with strict deadlines.
REQUIREMENTS/SKILLS:
- Knowledge of electrical systems, hand tools, and industrial equipment
- Ability to work safely and follow all company safety policies and procedures.
- Be a critical thinker and use logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions, or approaches to problems.
- Ability to write and communicate both orally, and in writing effectively.
- Possess an eagerness to learn and a desire to do quality work.
- Be able to select and use training/instructional methods and procedures appropriate for the situation when learning or teaching new things.
- Ability to keep a clean and well-organized work area including vehicles, tools, and other equipment up to standard.
- Ability or knowledge of calibrating electrical equipment
- Ability to read drawings and equipment manuals.
- Knowledgeable in pertinent electrical codes and regulations
- Willing to perform physically demanding tasks, such as lift heavy objects, climbing ladders, crawling, etc.
EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:
- High school diploma or equivalent
- AA degree in Industrial systems technology or similar
- Certificate of completion in an apprenticeship program, or journeyman experience
EQUIPMENT AND MACHINERY:
Gas/Air/Electric pumps, forklifts, ladders, hoses, tractors, sky trek, skyjack, catwalks, general hand tools, agitators, mixers, scales, pH meters, valves, cam locks, sweecos, level sensors, temp probes, calibrations, and decanters are a good example of everyday equipment and machinery you may work with or around daily.
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
The work environment is mostly outdoors during all weather conditions, with some indoor work. Work is performed around moving machinery and equipment, noise levels vary depending on what equipment is being worked around.
