Purpose of Position
The purpose of the Logistics Assistant position is to ensure that BioIVT’s product customer needs are met in regard to shipping and inventory of products, as well as to assist and support the Product Operations Department in the production of all product lines.
Responsibilities and Duties
- Assists with tasks necessary for product shipment, inventory control, and record keeping.
- Meticulous attention to detail with all inventory transactions.
- Performs work according to standard operating procedures (SOPs) and departmental policies.
- Performs work according to Good Laboratory Practices (GLP) regulations as required by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA).
- Maintains instruments and equipment logbooks.
- Safe handling of dry ice and liquid nitrogen.
- Able to help move inventory in the event of an equipment failure.
- Prepares standard media and buffers according to SOPs.
- Actively participates in the on-call system at the Assistant level.
- Maintains stock levels of internally utilized products.
- Utilizes sterile technique when required for scientific tasks.
- Handling of lab animals for transportation to the facility and within the facility.
- Maintains orderly, clean and safe workplace
- Assists the Products group in the production of hepatocytes, media, microsomes, and S9, as required.
- Troubleshoots and help with special projects, as assigned.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications/Skills and Knowledge Requirements
- Associates degree in a scientific field, or equivalent relevant work experience
- Ability to work on an “On Call” team
- Experience with shipping of products and inventory control.
- Aseptic technique
- Biological production experience preparing buffers and media.
- Familiarity with GLP.

Exposure to working with cryopreserved inventories.
Strong proficiency with Word and Outlook, and Excel - Experience with an ERP system (inventory and order preparation software) a plus

Physical Demands
- Work requires some standing and sitting for long periods of time in and out of the lab.
- Ability to perform intricate work with hands.
- Lifting and carrying up to 30 lbs.
- Ability to accurately read, record, and communicate information.
- Work requires handling potentially hazardous substances (toxic or caustic chemicals).
WORKING CONDITIONS:
- Occasionally required to work evenings, weekends
- Daily contact with dry ice and liquid nitrogen vapor
- Pleasant working environment

- Daily contact with human biological specimens and sharps
- Hep B vaccination and TB bacteria and Respirator Fit testing is required (others as recommended). Other forms of immunization proof or waiver are acceptable for Hep B and TB Screen
