POSITION SUMMARY

The Financial and Business Analyst will work with a team of analysts in various stages of new business development, launch, and operational support. The financial and business analyst will also lead EAP’s university pitch competition initiative and manage a new online small business support platform.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Responsibilities include but not limited to:

  • Review, analyze, and evaluate new business opportunities
  • Conduct and coordinate financial, product, market, and operational research
  • Utilize lean methodology principles in business model vetting and development
  • Perform pro forma financial modeling with known and/or unknown variables
  • Assist entrepreneurs in business planning and strategic approaches
  • Coach and assist entrepreneurs in preparing presentations for various audiences
  • Maintain user confidence and protect operations by keeping information confidential
  • Communicate key insights and findings to team of analyst and investor group
  • Work with internal grant team when needed on grant opportunities that could benefit underserved entrepreneurs
  • Constantly be on the lookout for ways to improve monitoring, discover issues and deliver better value to stakeholders
  • Lead EAP’s university pitch competition initiative:
    • o Act as the liaison between several Louisiana universities and colleges in developing, planning and executing pitch competition outline, workshops and other competition related events
    • o Work with external marketing agencies and other vendors to evaluate, refine and approve marketing material and products provided to universities and colleges for this initiative
    • o Lead and teach entrepreneurship development workshops at university and colleges face-to-face and/or virtually
    • o Prepare handouts and presentation desks for workshops
    • o Solicit and organize mentors and judges for program
    • o Consolidate and organize student coaching and development for final event presentations
    • o Manage workflow for intern assigned to university pitch initiative
  • Manage new online support platform for businesses in North Louisiana:
    • o Maintain and establish new relationships with educational, government and non-profit organizations that support or have resources that aid entrepreneurship and small businesses in 21 North Louisiana parishes
    • o Communicate and understand resource partner needs and facilitate their work in the network
    • o Interact with entrepreneurs regularly to monitor usage of the network and identify gaps in services
    • o Coordinate all activities of the network; develop new programs as needed; provide leadership to existing programs
    • o Facilitate the update of informational, educational and event content as needed on site
    • o Work with marketing team to develop on-going marketing and promotional efforts
    • o Serve as liaison to the advisory group; encourage two-way flow of information 
    • o Interact with leaders of other networks across the country on monthly meetings; provide information and best practices to others; learn from others in the field  

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS

The ideal candidate should have a master’s degree in general business administration, management, accounting, finance, economics, or any other related business field. Preference will be given to those who have hands-on entrepreneurship experience. 

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITIES

This position requires a diverse skill set including, but not limited to analysis ability, presentation skills, innovative thinking, event coordination and consulting. Ultimately, the ideal candidate will have the ability adapt and function effectively across multiple business disciplines and industries.
