BioSkryb is a venture-backed startup bringing new solutions for cellular heterogeneity in both the research and clinical space studies using our proprietary genome amplification system.

BioSkryb’s ResolveDNA™ technology enables even coverage of the entire genome during DNA amplification and allows for unparalleled accuracy and uniformity in DNA sequence coverage and base calling. We believe our technology will enable a new generation of single cell and low DNA genomics applications in diverse markets like cancer genomics, bacterial genomics, personal genomics and Minimal Residual Disease testing.

We are seeking a Bioinformatics Analyst to join an exciting, fast-growing, and well-financed company to aid in the development of novel single cell sequencing applications. The individual will be at the ‘front lines’ of data analysis from external client base and internal R&D team.  Regular work involves executing analytical workflows, summarize and interpret results across a range of applications. This extends to development of analytical systems, testing of applications in our commercial bioinformatics platform, BaseJumper. Familiarity with working in high performance computer environments, organizing and presenting results while maintaining biological understanding of results are required.

Responsibilities

  • Analyze next generation sequencing data in the support of client projects, product development and chemistry enhancements
  • Maintain schedule of tasks so that project timeline expectations are met. Communication to internal / external stakeholders of shift to timelines
  • Report on quality control within guidelines established by company policy. Providing recommendations to quality criteria where appropriate
  • Routinely provide summarization of project results and visualizations to senior team members
  • Create documentation on analytical processes and interpretation of output from BaseJumper
  • Develop documentation of analyses conducted and/or analysis plans and specifications, as appropriate
  • Review and modify procedures for data management cycles, performing data auditing as necessary for proper curation of very large datasets
  • Generate novel tools as necessary

Minimum Required Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree or educational equivalent in Bioinformatics, Molecular Biology, Statistics, Genomics or related field OR
  • Equivalent combination of education, training and experience of which bioinformatics is a strong component
  • Experience in analyzing NGS data: genomic or transcriptomic
  • Tool development in Python / R
  • Familiarity with common biological data formats, including transcript counting data, VCF, JSON, BAM
  • Experience with Linux and common command line tools
  • Clear oral and written communication skills, demonstrated code documentation
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with coworkers, managers and clients
  • Above all, the ability and willingness to learn new skills and solve new challenges

Preferred Experience

  • Familiarity with single-cell genomic datasets
  • Representing large datasets through platforms such as RShiny, Plotly, Tableau
  • Experience operating in cloud environment, preferably AWS (batch, lamda, eventBridge)
  • Understanding of cellular biology and/or cancer biology

Physical Requirements

  • Extensive use of keyboard requiring repetitive motion of fingers
  • Regular sitting for extended periods of time
