What are the responsibilities and job description for the Live-in Nanny/Household Manager position at Birch Nannies?
Bronxville, NY Live-in position
(30 min. north of the city)
Children: Two kiddos, 6 and 10 years old. Well behaved and respectful! One child has a nut allergy so the nanny needs to know how to use an epipen and be supportive of a 100% nut free household (including nanny’s personal spaces and vehicles).
Schedule: Monday - Friday 5:30am-8:30am and 1:00-7:00pm (split schedule). The family are looking for a long-term nanny, 5-10 years. The nanny will often be given a Friday off if the parents come home early.
Compensation: $125,000-135,000 annually (negotiable) through W2. A minimum of 2 weeks paid vacation, personal days and unlimited sick days. Nanny will have paid/off federal holidays including the day after Thanksgiving and Christmas Eve. A vehicle will be provided for the transportation of the children. Family will pay for reasonable relocation costs if the nanny lives in another state. Hours are guaranteed.
Living Quarters: Nanny is provided a beautiful private fully furnished suite (including full private kitchen) in the cottage house on the property.
Duties: Nanny will provide childcare when the children aren’t in school. Encourage kindness, confidence and positive interactions. Create weekly activity lists and activities. This is also a partial household manager position and nanny will cook (simple) dinners for the family/children, assist in laundry/linens, general tidying, managing the housecleaners, keeping children’s items stocked, grocery shopping, bringing packages in, taking cars for maintenance, organizational projects, etc. Household duties will not be done while children are home and nanny will focus only on spending quality time with the children.
The family are looking for an all-star, seasoned professional nanny. Someone with a can-do attitude, takes feedback smoothly, communicates clearly and cares deeply about her career in raising children. Nanny should know safe food preparation and care about being a proper representation of the family while in public. The family appreciates boundaries and mutual respect (they believe a nanny is a valuable job deserving of respect). The parents value their quality time with the children and are hoping to find a nanny who also values her private time when not on duty. The nanny would be loving, fun, energetic and present with the children, someone they learn will be their friend but also a leader, and can come up with creative projects, arts and crafts, etc.
A nanny who will thrive with this family is someone who has a air of grace, impeccable social manners, is pragmatic, low maintenance and can give feedback to the parents when she sees improvement is needed.

Covid Precautions: This is a “Covid cautious” family and nanny needs to be up to date on all Covid19 vaccinations/boosters. Nanny should be willing to wear a mask when traveling on a plane or other high traffic areas and support using general discretion in maintaining safety protocols such as having children wash their hands, etc.
Household Rules: No shoes or perfumes in the home.
There are no pets in the home.
Some travel may be needed.
