Barnes-Jewish West County Hospital offers highly specialized surgical and medical services in an intimate environment and is known for outstanding patient care. With 64 private patient rooms, 14 operating rooms and four intensive care unit rooms, the facility was designed to provide a comforting environment that is innovative, efficient and centered on the patient experience. The campus features a park-like setting with landscaping and a walking path that winds through the grounds and connects to Millennium Park.
Barnes-Jewish West County Hospital is dedicated to providing the highest quality care to patients. The Housestaff department is a coverage service extended to physician practices that wish to transition the inpatient care of their patients to a ''hospital-only'' physician group at BJWCH. In addition to unassigned patients from the Emergency Department, the Housestaff is responsible for provision of direct in-patient care to adult non-surgical patients. The service provides in-patient consultation in internal medicine and responds to codes and Rapid Response calls.

Role Purpose
Ensures optimal care and promotes safety of patients admitted to assigned service in cooperation with the private attending staff and nursing staff. Communicates with staff, patients, and families.
