Black Sage Environmental, Inc. is a CA licensed pest control business and Landscape Contractor specializing in invasive weed removal, brush management, pesticide application, habitat restoration, erosion control, trail maintenance and construction.
We are looking for hard working individuals to assist us in invasive weed removal, brush management, pesticide application, habitat restoration, erosion control, trail maintenance and construction. You must be self motivated and able to listen to instructions. Work locations will take place mainly in Spring Valley, CA, but could take place throughout San Diego County and work will be conducted outside in all weather conditions in natural areas of various habitat types and geographic landscapes.
This is a Full-time position. You must be able to work a full 8 hour day during work week at starting at 6:30AM. Work location is onsite at the jobsite in Spring Valley, CA. All crew travel to jobsite on their own and then travel together in company vehicle at the job site.
Minimum Qualifications:
Knowledge of safe herbicide application techniques
Qualified Applicator Certificate (QAC)
Experience with the safe operation of landscaping power tools (weed whacker/chainsaw/chipper/brush mower)
Experience with the safe operation of battery operated power tools (drills, sawzall, circular saw, etc)
Experience operating 4x4 vehicles (Truck/ATV)
Hard worker
Arrives to work on time and when scheduled
Reliable transportation
Accepts guidance from Supervisor
Flexibility
Ability to work as part of a team
Physically fit to perform hard labor for full work day
Desired Qualifications:
Knowledge of Southern California Native and Invasive Plants
Trail building knowledge and experience
Experience operating tractors of various types
Experience with the operation of small gas engines (water pumps/spray pumps/gas generator)
Job Duties:
Work varies depending on clients needs, but will include: Using backpack, hand held, truck or ATV sprayers to safely apply herbicides. Cleaning and maintaining herbicide application equipment. Tracking daily herbicide usage and submitting report to supervisor. Performing vegetation removal and brush management by hand pulling or safely operating hand tools, weed whackers, chain saws and chippers to cut and mulch various invasive weeds and brush including branches and small trees or to trim along trails. Transporting cut debris to dumpster or utilizing chipper to reduce biomass. Trash and debris pickup.
Work may also include: Installing/planting native container plants or cuttings and broadcasting seed. Maintenance and watering of installed native plants or cuttings. Installing temporary fencing and signs. Performing trail maintenance and installing erosion control materials. Installing small retaining walls and gabions. Performing Natural Resource monitoring. Safely operating company vehicles. Safely operating and maintaining company equipment and Shop. Other tasks as needed.
Relevant experience and/or education in the above tasks is preferred.'
