Barista Responsibilities and Duties

• Greeting customers warmly and understanding their beverage preferences.
• Preparing and serving a variety of hot and cold beverages, including coffee, espresso, cappuccino, tea, and chai.
• Maintaining a clean and organized workspace, adhering to health and safety guidelines.
• Recording sales, operating cash registers, and adhering to cash handling policies.
• Assisting with setting up the store, cleaning, and stocking merchandise.
• Engaging with customers professionally and creating a fun and engaging customer experience.
• Maintaining clean equipment and workspace, selling coffee, food, beverages, and other wares utilizing a POS, including handling of cash payments.
• Ensuring customer satisfaction and maintaining a high-quality service environment.
• Taking customer orders and crafting a wide range of beverages with precision and care.
• Educating customers about the coffee menu to enhance their experience.

Barista Qualifications and Skills

• Strong work ethic and a positive attitude.
• Ability to craft beverages to meet customer preferences.
• High integrity, punctuality, and a keen eye for detail.
• Effective communication and listening skills.
• Proficiency in handling financial transactions and familiarity with Point of Sale (POS) systems.
• Ability to stand for extended periods and, in some cases, lift up to 50lbs with assistance.
• Flexibility in scheduling, including availability on weekends and holidays.
• Experience in a hospitality role, emphasizing customer engagement, problem-solving, and a commitment to ongoing education in coffee knowledge.
• Skills in customer service, attention to detail, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment.
• Basic computer skills and internet access.

Qualifications and Skills:

• Previous barista experience
• Knowledge of brewing methods, different types of beans and roasts, and how to blend coffee
• Ability to gauge customers’ preferences
• Excellent communication skills
• Ability to keep the bar area clean
• Dexterity to handle hot liquids
• High school diploma; relevant training is a plus
