Job Description
Blazerjobs, in partnership with a respected school district in Thomasville, NC, is currently conducting interviews for the position of Speech-Language Interpreter (SLI). This is a full-time position for the 2023/2024 school year, with the possibility of renewal for the summer. Responsibilities:
- Provide interpretation services for students with hearing impairments or communication disorders
- Facilitate communication between students, teachers, and other staff members using appropriate interpreting techniques
- Assist in creating a supportive and inclusive learning environment for students with hearing or speech-related challenges
- Collaborate with Speech-Language Pathologists, teachers, and parents to ensure students' individual needs are met
- Participate in IEP meetings and contribute insights on communication goals and strategies
- Help students develop and improve their communication skills through direct support and instruction
- Maintain accurate records of interpreting sessions and student progress
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Communication Sciences and Disorders, Education, or a related field
- Valid certification as a Speech-Language Interpreter (SLI)
- Recent experience as an SLI in a school or educational setting
- Familiarity with assistive technology and communication devices
- Proficient in American Sign Language (ASL) and other sign systems
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Strong organizational and time management abilities
