Ice Cream Production Manager

Blue Cow Ice Cream, Co. has a Production Manager position open at its Roanoke, Virginia ice cream manufacturing facility. The position will be responsible for the safe and efficient operation of the plant as well as managing logistics to deliver our products to our company owned retail stores.

Primary Responsibilities:

• Build capable team through effective hiring, training and communications for team leaders and front-line hourly workers
• Create production scheduling, establishing priorities and sequences for manufacturing products to meet the needs of our retail stores.
• Manage vendor relations, create purchase orders for necessary supplies, commodities, and equipment, receive and inspect inventory, keep detailed invoice records for finance
• Maintain inventory control logs, month end inventory and reporting
• Manages direct and indirect controllable costs
• Develops or revises standard operational and working practices and observes workers to ensure compliance
• Oversees and assures facility equipment reliability to minimize downtime
• Manage SOP (Standard Operating Procedures) and GMP (Good Manufacturing Practices) ensuring food safety and regulatory compliance
• Manage quality control, ensuring recipes are followed accurately and no subpar buckets ever leave the freezer.

Experience and skills desired:

• College degree preferred
• 5 years of experience in food manufacturing
• Excellent planning, analytical & organizational skills
• Strong Leadership and communication skills (both Verbal & Written)
• Excellent organizational and leadership abilities
• Outstanding communication and people skills
• Knowledge of industry regulations and guidelines
• Familiarity with MS Office and applicable business software
