Software Configuration Management Engineer III

As part of a diverse and hardworking team of engineers, you will facilitate software configuration management and control for various spaceflight systems. You will provide essential contributions to the team’s impact on all aspects of software configuration management for each phase of the development lifecycle. You will be expected to lead software design integration within the overall vehicle configuration. You will coordinate regular configuration reviews to align software development and change activities, including code, requirements and software version control. Other duties will include guiding multi-functional teams through the software change process; supporting the resolution of integration issues with lead engineers and their respective teams; and developing or managing control documents associated with interface definitions between subsystems. Setting up, leading Change Control Board Meetings will be included in your basic responsibilities. For this role, you should have an understanding of: Software configuration identification Software baselines and release processes Archival and retrieval of historical releases Traceability between software artifacts Problem reporting, including tracking of problem reports against specific baselines/releases Corrective actions for problem reports Change control Preferred familiarity w/ both Subversion and Git version control systems Familiarity w/ change control boards (CCBs) Change review, including code and software requirement reviews Configuration status accounting Data control categories (e.g. CC1 vs. CC2) Software load control Software lifecycle environment control Responsibilities include: Ensuring the team adheres to the configuration management standard methodologies as well as Blue Origin configuration management standards Supporting process of developing system requirements, flow down, and verification planning Ensuring that the configuration supports major design reviews and the integration landmarks Maintaining and reporting on development activities and technical issues Clear communication and collaboration with all development teams involved on projects Qualifications: B.S. degree in engineering and 5 year’s proven ability in aerospace, medical devices, automotive, or other related industry. Experience with the software development lifecycle and associated configuration management processes used for highly integrated and sophisticated products Proven configuration control experience on recently developed products from early trade studies through final design and into manufacturing and test, maintenance and sustaining. Familiar with DO-178C (or B) Management of multiple configuration variants of a common design baseline.
