What are the responsibilities and job description for the Payroll Administrator position at Blue Ridge Power?

Blue Ridge Power (BRP) is looking for an experienced Payroll Administrator to join our team! The Payroll Administrator will handle all duties related and necessary to process weekly payroll for 1,000 employees.

What You'll Do

  • Accurately process weekly payroll in ADP WFN in compliance with federal and state laws and regulations.
  • Ensure all timecards are compiled and approved in order to process payroll timely.
  • Adjust employee timecards, as needed.
  • Process involuntary deductions such as levies and garnishments.
  • Ensure accuracy of employee and employer contributions for statutory requirements.
  • Ensure accuracy of other payments and deductions calculated by the system.
  • Interface with external customers for requests and/or issue resolutions.
  • Use payroll registers and standard processing reports to determine and correct out-of-balance issues.
  • Generation of statutory reports.
  • Process payroll forms for garnishments, unemployment, and employee verifications.
  • Process vacation payouts, final deductions, and verifying final hours in timekeeping system on terminations.
  • Remains competent and current through self-directed professional reading, attending professional development seminars, and attending training and/or courses.
  • Contribute to the success of the department by performing all other duties and responsibilities as assigned, acting as a back-up for other positions as needed, maintaining high levels of accuracy, maintaining a professional demeanor and appropriate levels of confidentiality, and providing excellent customer service.

Must-Haves

  • 5 years’ experience processing payroll.
  • Minimum of 2 years processing payroll in ADP WFN.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Proficient in MS Excel.
  • Knowledge of payroll principles and methods.

Nice-To-Haves

  • CPP certification.

Working Environment & Physical Demands 

  • Position works in-person at our Fayetteville, NC office.
  • Must be able to sit/stand at a desk and utilize a computer, for extended periods of time.
