Description
Bluestem Health is a resource for the entire community for medical, dental and behavioral health services all under one roof. Our goal is to be a resource for all patients regardless of their ability to pay. We accept all major types of insurance and also offer a sliding fee discount program so that patients are able to afford treatment.
Please note this is for local applicants only, as we do require you to be in the office. The hours for this position will be M-F, 8 am to 5 pm (40 hours per week).
Position Summary: The Medical Interpreter serves as part of the health care team, providing interpretation services to all non-English speaking patients to ensure understanding of clinic procedures and Provider treatment/services. The Medical Interpreter provides oral interpretation and written translation for patients and staff in the assigned language(s).
Some Job Functions:
- Schedule appointments
- Interpret medical and dental information
- Provide interpretation in person and via telephone
- Place follow-up calls, as directed by the Provider
- Answer phone calls in a prompt and professional manner throughout the work day
- Responsible for checking voicemail frequently and returning phone calls in a prompt manner
- Checks and completes all electronic health record tasks
- Responsible for assisting the front desk with any walk-in patients, patients that may need paperwork completed, and any questions that may arise
Requirements
- High School Diploma Required
- Demonstrated fluency in assigned language(s); including speaking, reading, and writing required
- Experience interpreting in the healthcare field preferred
- Ability to maintain high level of confidentiality and adhere to all HIPAA guidelines
- Excellent computer skills required
- Experience with electronic health record preferred
- Highly organized, attentive to detail, quality and accuracy
- Self-starter and able to work with minimal supervision
- High level of customer service skills
- Ability to interrelate with wide variety of people
