Job Title: Recreation Assistant Coordinator

Department: Boardman Park and Recreation District

Reports To: Recreation Coordinator/ Facility Director


Summary: Assist the Recreation Coordinator with all recreation activities and recreation service personnel by performing the following duties.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

Coordinates volunteers’ efforts, when needed may help with registration, signups, volunteer referees and officials.

Utilizes media and other resources including webpage to promote Parks and Recreation activities; produces promotional materials including brochures and flyers;

Adapts recreation programs to meet needs of individual agency or institution such as hospital, armed services, children service or aged community.

Interprets recreation service to public and participates in community meetings and organizational planning.

Works in team with administrative or other professional personnel such as those engaged in medicine, social work, nursing, psychology, and therapy, to ensure that recreation is well balanced, coordinated, and integrated with special services.

May directly lead and organize programs, activities, and special events;

Attends educational conferences/training as approved by supervisor;

Observes all safety rules and procedures.

Supervisory Responsibilities

On occasion may be assigned supervision over seasonal recreation staff.

Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization. Bilingual English/Spanish preferred.

Mathematical Skills - Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.

Computer Skills - To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Internet software; Inventory software; Spreadsheet software, Word processing software, Reservation system, and Sport League Software.

ACCEPTABLE EXPERIENCE AND TRAINING:

  • High school diploma/GED preferred.
  • Experience in a similar role.
  • Comfortable working with people of all ages and backgrounds.

CERTIFICATES AND LICENSES REQUIRED:

State of Oregon Class C Driver's License.

Physical Demands: While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel; talk or hear and taste or smell. The employee is frequently required to stand; walk and reach with hands and arms. The employee is occasionally required to sit; climb or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must regularly lift and /or move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.

Work Environment: While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly exposed to outside weather conditions. The employee is occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions; moving mechanical parts; fumes or airborne particles; toxic or caustic chemicals; extreme cold and extreme heat. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
