What are the responsibilities and job description for the Financial Analyst-Products position at Boart Longyear?
This position resides in the global FP&A team, with the purpose of supporting the Products division with data analytics, both ongoing and project based. Specifically, it supports the global Sales and Product Management teams with models and operational information. The Analyst interacts with various head office functions and regional sales organizations. Responsibilities cover all aspects of analytics, including working with the organization to ensure complete and accurate inputs, creation of meaningful and timely reports, and tactical involvement to analyze specific problems and generate actionable findings. The position is responsible for monthly sales commission reporting, standard performance reports as well as ad-hoc analytical problem solving.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Data Analytics, or Accounting required.
- 1 to 3 years of experience in a finance or accounting role, preferably in a multi-regional organization. Specific modeling or analytics experience a plus.
- Detail-oriented, Self-motivated, well organized, and analytical.
- History of managing concurrent projects, working on short deadlines, and supporting demands from several departments.
- Strong communication skills to work effectively cross-functionally and be able to articulate reporting tools, observations, and recommendations.
- Ownership mentality, including data and reports as well as one’s own learning progress.
- Not comfortable with status quo and driven to constantly improve process efficiency and control effectiveness.
- Strong financial acumen required. In-depth Excel skills are a must, including advanced functions. Programming skills not required, but ability to create macros or understand programming requirements is highly beneficial. Prior Oracle R12 experience a plus.
- Fluency in Spanish is beneficial, but not required.
Responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:
- Build, support, and maintain standard reports for P&L analytics, including filters by product group and sales organization.
- Provide analytics for specific projects as defined by Product Management or Sales.
- Work with Finance and Accounting to ensure margins are accurately or consistently estimated down to the SKU level.
- Create reports for other KPIs, supporting the evaluation of standard offering, made-to-order products, inventory turns, sales performance, concessions, high-dollar or slow-moving inventory, etc. Develop new reports on a project basis, coordinating with Qlikview and Oracle teams.
- Provide formalized reviews and reports on a weekly, monthly, or quarterly basis as defined. Verify and drive data integrity.
- Ensure regional sales organization and global functions provide timely input data for weekly reports and monthly commissions calculations.
- Track cost-out or cost correction initiatives, related to sourcing, manufacturing, freight, or allocations.
- Train personnel in usage and interpretation of reports.
