Boart Longyear is looking for a new Operations Manager for our Reverse Circulation Drilling Team. Do you have a background or education in Geology, Engineering or Mining? If so, give us a call. It is an exciting time to be in the drilling industry and we are looking for someone with an outgoing and positive personality to help us grow this division. If you have a background in geology, engineering, or mining, we want to talk to you. We are willing to train the right person to become a successful Operations Manager in the drilling industry.

This new person will help us with continuous improvement process while meeting all Company requirements for compliance and financial performance. We will depend on you to maintains good customer relations and acts as the primary liaison between customer field staff and the BLY organization. Good relationships with our clients is the key.

Minimum Qualifications

Strong knowledge of Mining, Geology or Engineering required. A degree in a related field will also be considered.
Background in mining, industrial or construction a strong plus but not required to be considered
Sound business planning by creating long- and short-term plans
Ability to develop project plans that identify resource and budgetary needs.
Manage schedules and targets on the project as needs or financing for the project change.
Collaborative management and influencing skills.
A proven Leader with experience in building and motivating teams.
Strong Safety Advocate with experience in creating and nurturing a Culture of Care.
Excellent communication skills, written and verbal. Works collaboratively across the organization.
Effective time and priority management.
Computer literate (MS Office).

Responsibilities

Connect the interface between operational requirements and EHS systems, processes, and practices so that statutory, company and client requirements are met.
Identify risks / hazards and ensure corrections are implemented.
Provide guidance on operational matters including drilling technical issues, drills, and ancillary equipment, and ensuring team development.
Ensure relevant operational systems, processes and practices exist, are understood, and applied consistently throughout the zone. Alignment to global BLY operating standards, systems, and metrics.
Partner with the Region Asset & Fleet Manager to ensure equipment meets the requirements of the drilling standard and client requirements.
Extensive travel may be required.
Other duties as needed.
