What are the responsibilities and job description for the Bookkeeper position at Bob Ward New Homes?
Ward Communities of Harford County is looking for a skilled bookkeeper to work two or three days per week to maintain financial records, including purchases, sales, receivables and payables. The ideal candidate will have an AA degree in a related field and/or 1 to 3 years proven experience.
Responsibilities:
- Data entry of invoices and exchange pf purchase orders approved to accounts payable.
- Payment processing by check, void and re-issuance of checks, returned deposits, recurring payments, and lien waivers.
- Complete credit applications
- Set-up and maintenance of vendor accounts in the accounting software.
- Oversee compliance of new vendor documents to include W-9's and Certificates of Insurance.
- Research and resolve vendor disputes and past due accounts.
- Assist with 1099 filings
- Assist with insurance audits
- Assist with set-up and maintenance of internal communities and job accounts.
- Reconcile bank deposit and loan statements monthly and at year end.
- Monitor and reconcile open items, insurance deductions, water and drywell bond escrows, receivables, and PO approvals on a monthly basis.
- Cash processing and monitoring for remote deposits.
- Use of on-line banking for positive pay decisions and to view account activity.
- Make entries for wires, Venmo, or credit card deposits as well as ACH debits.
- Assist with lot takedowns, settlement entries, and land development draws.
- Sort mail organize and filing.
- Other duties as assigned.
Experience, Knowledge and Skills:
- Must have a working knowledge of all aspects of accounts payables and receivables.
- AA degree from a 2-year college or technical school in accounting/finance or a related field,
- One to three years bookkeeping experience in lieu of AA degree acceptable,
- Self-motivated with the ability to work independently and collaboratively with strong organizational skills,
- Excellent computer skills, including Microsoft Office Suite.
- Must posses a high degree of accuracy, be detail oriented, and able to multi-task.
