Overview of the Role

As the company’s Controller, you will be responsible for leading the day-to-day financial functions of the company.  This position demands a person that is detail-oriented, emphasizes accuracy and timeliness, is analytical and curious and above all, is ethical.

Who You’ll Work With

You will report to the Chief Financial Officer and work with the Finance Team.  You will manage the day-to-day financial operations of the company and will be responsible for preparing accurate financial statements and efficient accounting processes.

Major Accountabilities

  • Manage accounting functions on a day-to-day basis including accounts receivable, accounts payable, cost accounting and general ledger accounting.
  • Responsible for timely, accurate, and efficient monthly accounting closes.
  • Preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in accordance with U.S. GAAP.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Ensure all financial data is accurate, timely and complete for management review.
  • Assist with all aspects of accounting functions including, but not limited to, accounts receivable, accounts payable, cost accounting, and general ledger accounting.
  • Manage sales tax compliance process.
  • Perform balance sheet account reconciliations and reviews.
  • Develop and monitor key metrics that drive improvements; identify unfavorable trends and implement plans for correction.
  • Evaluates the company’s performance against budget and prior year.
  • Collaborates with key stakeholders to explain financial results, make improvements, manage projects, and identify inefficiencies, while partnering to improve results.
  • Ensure accuracy of cycle counts and physical inventory, investigate and explain book to physical adjustments.
  • Develop, analyze, document, and implement internal controls.
  • Develop, maintain, and enhance accounting and finance policies, processes, and procedures to comply with U.S. GAAP.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
  • 5-7 years of experience as Assistant Controller or 3-5 years of experience as Controller working in a manufacturing environment (Medical Devices preferred).
  • 3-5 years of management (leadership) experience.
  • High proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite applications, ERP systems, and CRM platforms.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.  Must be able to communicate with all levels in the organization, including senior management and the Board of Directors.
  • Detail-oriented, accurate, analytical, and ethical.
  • Ability to interface professionally and diplomatically throughout the organization.
