The Boeing Defense, Space & Security (BDS) team is seeking a Senior Thermal Engineer located in Huntsville, AL, Houston TX or Kennedy Space Center, FL. The selected candidate will be responsible for creating or modifying thermal math models, running analytical cases to determine environments or temperatures of various components or structure of the SLS upper stage vehicle, and collaborating with other teams (e.g. Propulsion, Stress, etc.) to ensure requirements are satisfied and issues are resolved.
Position Responsibilities:
Directs the development and documentation of large scale, complex mechanical and fluid system and thermal environment requirements to establish the system design
Develops new design/analysis processes and tools to improve effectiveness, quality and efficiency of the development effort
Investigates emerging technologies to develop concepts for future product designs to meet projected requirements
Serves as technical consultant for disposition, corrective actions and coordination with cross-functional groups to identify/implement solutions and drive strategic improvements relative to production processes
Coaches and mentors others
Works under consultative direction
This position allows telecommuting. The selected candidate may be required to work onsite at one of the listed location options.

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):
Bachelor's, Master's or Doctorate of Science degree from an accredited course of study, in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry
10 years of experience in thermal design and analysis
10 years of experience with numerical analysis tools such as SINDA FLUINT, Thermal Desktop, CFD, etc.
Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):
7 years of experience with on-orbit vehicle or satellite thermal analysis experience
5 years of experience in thermal design and modeling of aerospace platforms
5 years of experience in NASA Space programs or a related Space or Defense program
3 years of experience providing technical leadership for an engineering team
Typical Education & Experience:
Bachelor's degree typically 14 or more years' experience in an engineering classification or a Master's degree with typically 12 or more years' experience in an engineering classification or a PhD degree with typically 9 or more years' experience in an engineering classification. Bachelor, Master or Doctorate of Science degree from an accredited course of study, in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry. ABET is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.

Summary pay range: $136,850 - $197,800
