Boeing Defense, Space and Security is seeking a Spacecraft Mission/Operations System Engineer (Level 2, 3 or 4) to provide support to several programs. The main responsibility will be supporting the Mission Systems Engineering and Operations (MSEO) team on a Government program located in the Puget Sound . Activities will include development and validation of operational procedures and mission systems engineering work for satellite operations. The team has many responsibilities, including: operating the Satellite vehicle on console, architecting Satellite transfer orbit ConOps, operational procedures design & development, and end-to-end validation with our vehicle simulator.
As a Mission Operations Systems Engineer, you will be a hands-on contributor in a strong and highly motivated team responsible for flying our Boeing Satellites to their final orbit and responsible for developing the required operations procedures to accomplish this. In this role you will directly support all execution phases of Mission Operations campaigns, from vehicle development to Launch and On-orbit operations. This position will challenge you to think at a systems level about ambiguous problems and use strong logic and computation to develop high-quality products and processes.
Qualified candidates should be able to demonstrate proficiency in Systems Engineering and Systems Thinking while applying their theoretical knowledge in resolving real world problems. Excellent analytical skills, good communication, and the ability to effectively work with various engineering disciplines is also highly preferred.

Validating Software Procedures against Vehicle Simulator
Initializing Vehicle In-Orbit
Providing Customer support On-Orbit
Opportunity to support other programs within the MSEO (less than 10% of time)
This position is expected to be 100% onsite. The selected candidate will be required to work onsite at the listed location.
This position requires the ability to obtain a US Security Clearance for which the US Government requires US Citizenship as a condition of employment. An interim and/or final U.S. Top Secret Clearance Post-Start is required.
Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):
Bachelor's, Master's or Doctorate of Science degree from an accredited course of study, in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry
Direct experience with Space Systems Engineering groups
Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):
Level 3: 3 years of related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience
Level 4: 5 years of related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience
Experience with spacecraft operations or developing operation procedures
Experience with Software Coding languages (
Understanding of System Engineering, focusing on Altitude Control Systems
Proficient with Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, etc.)
Exposure to software qualification/certification in accordance with any of the following (Verification/ Validation / Readiness)
Experience with Matlab, Java, Visual Basic, Python, HTML
