Bolton & Menk is looking to add a Planner 1 to our team. As a Star Tribune Top 200 Workplace in Minnesota and Des Moines Top Workplace in Iowa, this is a fantastic opportunity to work with a great team of professionals. Bolton & Menk is regional, consulting engineering firm with over 75 years of experience serving the Upper Midwest and beyond. We are looking to add a Planner 1 who will help foster our mission that All People Should Live in Safe, Sustainable and Beautiful Communities!

What You Will Be Doing

• Assist with review of development applications, including variances, subdivisions, rezonings, and associated permits.
• Research planning topics through document review, data collection and analysis, and other methods.
• Assist with community engagement and outreach when developing and reviewing plans, including working with community groups, government agencies, developers, and elected officials.
• Have primary or secondary knowledge in the following planning specializations:
• Land use (primary focus)
• Project communication
• Transportation
• Environmental
• Landscape architecture
  

What We Are Looking For

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Urban and Regional Studies, Urban Planning, Geography, Public Administration, or closely related field from an accredited college.
• Previous related internship experience preferred.
• Knowledge of urban planning policy and development, including experience with researching topics, developing reports, giving presentations, and engaging with stakeholders.
• Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, and familiarity with Adobe Creative Suite, ArcGIS, and other planning and design software.
• Skills in client needs assessment, meeting quality standards for service, and evaluation of client satisfaction.
• Possess a valid driver's license as travel to various facilities and job sites may be required.
