Position Summary:
Performs clerical and receptionist duties within the department under the
supervision of the Supervisor or designee.
Obtains cardiac monitoring strips, recognizes Dysrhythmia and informs the nurse of any suspected changes.
Minimum Required Qualifications
Education: High school or equivalent.
Experience: Previous experience preferred
Requirements:
• Successful completion of Connect Care Modules ED100 and ED 101 with minimum
score of 84%
• Basic Arrhythmia Interpretation Course within 3 months of hire
• Crisis Intervention Training within one month of hire
• Sufficient knowledge of English, Spelling, Math and Medical terminology. Good
interpersonal skills.
Licensure, Registration, or Certification:
BLS required; Completes orientation according to policy/procedures
Position Responsibilities
Essential Functions:
1. Answers the telephone identifying department and name in a professional manner
2. Answers patient call system promptly and courteously. Relays messages to appropriate
nursing personnel
3. May not accept physician’s orders.
4. Assists nursing staff in obtaining supplies and information.
5. Courteously gives directions to visitors and patients.
6. Explains hospital rules to patients, families and visitors.
7. Assists with facilitating throughput of patient care in conjunction with nursing staff
8. Enters specified orders accurately into the electronic medical record
9. Assists with ordering of unit supplies as requested.
10. Attends all mandatory in-services.
11. Attends at least 50% of the yearly service line staff meetings. When unable to attend
monthly meetings PowerPoint presentations and minutes are available in the
Communication Book. Each employee should review and sign roster.
12. Accepts accountability for education provided pertaining to policies, procedures, patient
safety, and environment of care issues.
13. Conducts oneself in a professional, compassionate, and competent manner as to reflect
the BSSFHS mission.
14. Assists nursing staff in stocking of department and patient rooms with appropriate
supplies/linens in the absence of an ED Tech
