What are the responsibilities and job description for the Anodizing Process Engineer position at BONNELL ALUMINUM?
Reporting to the Downstream Operations Manager, the Anodizing Process Engineer will be responsible for the technical aspects and technical performance of the anodizing system. This includes specific expertise in the anodizing chemistry, wastewater treatment, and production of anodized parts. As the Anodizing Process Engineer, you will support the development and documentation of lean manufacturing processes, manufacturing support and continuous improvement projects. You will work with existing processes and equipment to improve quality and productivity of the manufacturing team. You will work collaboratively with all functional groups at all levels of the organization.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:
- Continuously improves effectiveness of anodizing operations through process improvement.
- Initiates, recommends, and provides solutions for process optimization to improve reliability, throughput, and costs.
- Initiates, recommends, and provides solutions to technical problems.
- Activities may involve but are not limited to heating/cooling equipment, rectifiers, electrical, controls, ventilation, material handling, wastewater treatment, reverse osmosis system, chemistry, process specification, training, and safety.
- Coordinates operation, maintenance, and repair activities to obtain optimization of machines and reduce downtime.
- Supports business development team during new business quoting process.
- Develops manufacturing process for new products including racking method, and process parameters.
- Guide, follow and maintain the environmental, health, and safety functions for the company while practicing safe working techniques and re-enforce the safety policies, guidelines, and procedures set out by the Company.
- Support Quality initiatives and programs to include Layered Process Audits
- Manage and maintain the layered process audit process and system.
- Participate in the Aluminum Anodizers Council (AAC) and stay current on anodizing equipment and processes.
- Other tasks and projects as assigned to support the success of the plant.
REQUIRED EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:
- Bachelor’s Degree in an engineering discipline (preferably Chemical Engineering) or a minimum of 4 years of experience in a similar role
- Previous electro-chemical process experience preferred
- Effective verbal and written communication skills
- Proficient in MS Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Teams, and Word)
- Lean Manufacturing and/or Lean Six Sigma exposure – Green Belt preferred
- ERP experience – preferably with J.D. Edwards or Oracle
- SolidWorks/AutoCAD experience is preferred
