What are the responsibilities and job description for the Software Engineering Manager position at Booster Fuels?
About the Role
Booster is looking for an experienced, results-driven, hands-on Software Engineering Manager. lead a team of 4-7 software engineers, who are assigned to 2-3 feature / scrum teams across our various platforms. You’ll contribute significantly to the ideation, scope, development, quality assurance, and delivery of the various applications that power the Booster business, including mobile, web, and IoT. You’ll represent the Engineering team across Booster, and work closely with our Operations, Product Management, and Data teams.The position will report to the Senior Director of Engineering.
We are looking for someone who can handle a fast paced environment, who isn’t afraid of wearing different hats as the company and industry grows, and who believes in the Booster mission: Enabling clean and efficient transportation through data-driven mobile energy delivery across renewables, liquids, and EV.
What You’ll do
- Manage, hire, enable, and develop a team of software developers
- Define and monitor KPIs and OKRs for your team based on overall org goals
- Work closely with cross functional stakeholders to develop innovative technology solutions that help create the best-in-class commercial products
- Partner with other groups within Booster to establish timelines for deliverable products and features, and be the voice of Engineering throughout the company
- Drawing on your technology experience, identify the appropriate technology stack and ensure its alignment with company stage, needs, goals, and planned roadmap.
- Champion engineering best practices on our team, with a focus on agile / scrum
- Bring a fresh perspective to our current product lineup to continuously improve SDLC ceremonies, QA engineering, CI / CD, cloud infrastructure architecture and strategy, as well as monitoring and observability
- Enforce quality assurance and data protection processes, ensuring all technology practices adhere to regulatory standards.
What You Should Already Know
- Share Booster’s core values of Safety, Integrity, Excellence, Bold, Stewardship
- 4 years of experience managing software engineering teams
- 3 years of experience writing code full time in at least one major programming language
- Proven experience building and delivering complex products, ideally web, SaaS or enterprise software
- Leadership experience making decisions with minimal direction and prioritizing across multiple competing demands
- Strong experience in program/project management and best practices. Atlassian tool suite (JIRA and Confluence) highly desirable.
- Experience with one or more of JavaScript/Typescript, NodeJS, Python and Golang is highly desirable
- Experience managing teams across multiple geographies a big plus
