What are the responsibilities and job description for the Direct, Sales position at BorgWarner Systems Lugo S.r.l.?
- Lead the sales function in meeting our growth, profitability, EVA, market share, investment
initiative, and product leadership objectives for respective product/market segments.
- This position will be responsible for sales of industrial Motor Drives, DC/DC Converters, Batteries
and Off-Board Battery Chargers, including public EV DC-Fast Charging Stations.
- Responsible to work with multiple plants/teams in EU/NA/Asia and with multiple OEM customers.
- Responsible for planning and managing all sales activities within a medium organization with high
growth potential.
- Defines the sales plan and customer strategy, including sales, exports, customer services, etc.
- Responsible for achievement of both quantitative and qualitative sales objectives.
- While coordinating with cross-functional departments within the business unit, the Sales Director
owns the customer strategy and is accountable for the growth, profitability and customer
satisfaction.
- Responsible for negotiations of major contracts, developing personal contacts with major clients.
- Responsible for developing staff/key managers to increase the talent level for the business unit
and corporation.
- Responsible for providing sales functional expertise including the execution of sales processes,
policies and procedures
Principal activities:
Represent the business unit to our customers in a highly professional and ethical manner
promoting product leadership in component and systems technology.
- Develops (with input from cross-functional teams) and deploys comprehensive customer
strategies that improve the profitability and growth of the business unit’s systems.
- Articulates a clear understanding of our market share, competitive position, and profitability at
each assigned account.
- Works in conjunction with Plant Managers, VP Sales & PM and VP/GM to deploy comprehensive
pricing strategies which are market driven, based on value provided the customer and
competitive alternatives.
- Develops and deploys the customer interface strategy (points of contact, frequency) and builds
strong rapport with key decision makers, developing coaches and sponsors at our key accounts.
- Develops proactive new business opportunity (NBO) plans, tracking and recording progress
toward sales objectives
- Monitors market dynamics, including customer and competitor developments and funnels
relevant information to the appropriate management/leadership team for consolidation in our
market sensing process.
- Takes ownership of total customer satisfaction, monitoring our performance on key supplier
metrics and pursuing corrective action plans as appropriate
- Develops sales forecasts for use in the LRP and monitors market trends throughout the year for
use in monthly forecast adjustments.

- Provides global coordination on customer issues where required.
- Assures account team’s compliance with contract review procedures and business unit
commercial policies
- Manages and motivates a supporting team of account/sales managers and customer liaison
personnel.
- Responsible for thorough development plans, training and coaching of team members.
- Achieve new business development investments and growth goals through target market
specification management and new business closure initiatives.
- Business proposal development (price, strategy etc.).
- Identify customer plans.
- Understand market target prices, customer requirements and the value proposition in the market
(cost, quality, product performance) to maximize profitable growth
- Prepares and carries out significant internal and external project proposal presentations.
- Supports interaction between manufacturing operations, supply chain and the customer to
implement cost savings projects to maximize financial results
- Actively supports the monthly sales/financial forecast step meetings to provide input/guidance to
meet achieve monthly and quarterly forecast accuracy metrics
- Establishes sales quotas and budgets for the Region/ Customer segment or product line.
- Develops a vision, mission and strategy for his/her sales team/market.
- Develop organizational accountability
- Frequent travel required for customer interaction/support.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:
- Bachelor’s degree (commercial/technical preferred)
- Advanced engineering/business degree is preferred/desirable
- Greater than 12 years related sales or engineering experience with significant customer contact
- Managerial experience
- Significant experience of automotive and Industrial industry
- Strong understanding of automotive and commercial vehicle OEM business processes
- Sales experience with multiple PC and CV OEM customers
- Global work experience is preferred/desirable
- Technical background / Basic knowledge: power electronics, Hybrid and BEV Architectures, DC
Energy Storage Systems and BMS Types/Architectures
- Fluent in English. German is a value added.
