Job purpose BorgWarner PowerDrive Systems is currently looking for a “dynamic, results-driven” individual to join as a Product Engineer - Mechanical. The Product Engineer will be responsible for designing engine and transmission control modules in the eHW group at the Kokomo, Indiana location. Key responsibilities Development of mechanical packaging of engine/transmission control modules. Work with Electrical/Systems Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, and Program management to support the mechanical design. Perform product design simulation for thermal and vibration analysis. Work with mechanical and electrical CAD groups to create and release documentation. Work with suppliers to ensure the producibility of components, and that they meet design guidelines and requirements cost-effectively. Provide presentation updates to customers, and ensure we meet their requirements. Interface with prototype lab for development builds, and production manufacturing locations. Interface with validation engineers, and if failures occur, determine root cause and corrective action. What we’re looking for Education – Minimum Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering. Experience – 3-5 years minimum is preferred. Automotive experience is required. Systems – Understand and be able to perform an organized approach to developing and implementing a design/product from beginning to end. Programs – Support implementation of new designs as well as supporting current products. Knowledge – General knowledge of the manufacturing requirements for automotive electronics, and SMT assemblies. Travel – Willingness to travel and work at remote customer or production sites if needed.
