Description

The Flattening Inspector will be responsible for cutting and performing flattening testing on pipe material as well as cutting samples for the Lab to support the continuous operation of the Heat Treat in accordance with plant policies and procedures.

He / she will ensure a safe and compliant operation during his / her shift.

Working Conditions

Working conditions are normal for a manufacturing environment; hot when weather is hot and cold when weather is cold. Greasy, dirty and noisy environment.

Work involves lifting, pulling and / or pushing of materials and product up to 50 pounds. Standing and walking considerable distances.

Operation requires the use of personal protective equipment (PPE) to include but not limited to; eye safety glasses, hearing protection, work boots, and hardhats.

Loose fitting clothes and jewelry are not permitted.

Qualifications :

1.1. A High School diploma or GED

1.2. Experience with heat treating materials preferred.

1.3. Ability to read Write and Speak English, as well as basic arithmetic, critical thinking and basic computer skills.

1.4. Ability to multi-task several priorities with excellent time management in a fast-paced environment.

1.5. Visibility of work requires attention to detail, excellent organizational skills, and discretion with confidential information.

1.6. Employee must be able to work with a flexible or rotating schedule which may require over-time and weekends when needed.

Responsibilities :

2.1. Responsible for cutting and performing flattening testing of material that is processed by BMP to ensure conformity to API / Customer specifications.

2.2. Responsible for cutting samples the lab needs for mechanical and collapse testing in a timely fashion.

2.3. Responsible for maintaining sample traceability from the material on the line to the lab.

2.5. Maintain familiarity with the BMP product, policies and procedures.

2.6. Take accurate measurement of the collapse samples for inhouse evaluation of product performance.

2.7. Employee must follow all PPE policies and safety rules.

Activities :

3.1. Cut a section of pipe, Head and Tail every twenty joints, for flattening test.

3.2. Perform flattening test, cut collapse samples, and cut barrels for the lab.

3.3. Maintain traceability of the pipe samples.

3.4. Report any discrepancies on reports to supervisor of department.

Reports to Department Supervisor Revision Date 9 / 30 / 2019

3.5. Verify calibration and working condition of measuring equipment against standards.

3.6. This position may require operating a Forklift and Jib cranes.

3.7. Maintain good housekeeping practices in the work area and keep it free and clear of debris.

3.8. Other duties as assigned.

Authority and Obligation :

4.1. Has the authority to stop the Heat Treat line at any time that is deemed necessary for reasons of safety or product quality.
