Job Description
Our Warehouse Operations Manager oversees the day-to-day logistics activities within our organization, ensuring efficient and effective management of transportation, warehousing, and distribution operations. We require strong leadership, organizational, and problem-solving skills to effectively manage our complex logistics operation. This role plays a crucial role in driving operational excellence and ensuring that our operations are efficient, cost-effective, and aligned with our strategic objectives. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of warehouse management systems, inventory control, and logistics and they will be responsible for ensuring the efficient and effective operation of the warehouse, including managing staff in multiple positions with varying levels of responsibility.
Principal Responsibilities:
- Process Optimization: Analyzing logistics processes such as warehousing, transportation, and distribution to identify inefficiencies and opportunities for improvement.
- Project Management: Leading and implementing improvement projects and initiatives aimed at enhancing logistics efficiency, reducing costs, and improving service levels.
- Training and Development: Providing training and support to logistics teams on best practices, new technologies, and continuous improvement methodologies.
- Safety Compliance: Enforcing safety regulations and protocols to ensure a safe working environment.
- Inventory Management: Managing inventory levels to optimize warehouse space utilization and ensure timely availability of goods for distribution.
- Cost Management: Monitoring logistics costs, analyzing cost-saving opportunities, and implementing strategies to improve efficiency and reduce expenses.
- Leading Direct Staff: Fostering their ability to hire, motivate, develop, and maintain a highly functional work force.
- Logistics Coordination: Ensuring efficient and timely shipping and receiving processes, optimizing warehouse layout for maximum efficiency.
- Equipment Maintenance: Overseeing the maintenance and repair of warehouse equipment and machinery to ensure smooth operations.
- Continuous Improvement: Preparing and analyzing operational reports, tracking key performance indicators, and making data-driven decisions to improve warehouse performance.
- Customer Service: Collaborating with other departments to meet customer needs, ensuring timely and accurate order fulfillment.
- Travel as required.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree: Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Business Administration or Operations Management or Equivalent Proven Work Experience in Warehousing/Logistics/Transportation
- Preferred Qualifications: Bachelor' degree plus Certified Supply Chain Professional (CSCP), Certified Production Inventory Management (CPIM) or Certified Warehouse Logistics Professional (CWLP) and Six Sigma Green Belt.
- 5 years of progressive experience in Warehouse Operations and Continuous Improvement.
- Strong knowledge of warehouse management systems and inventory control processes
- Proven leadership and team management skills
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to analyze data and make data-driven decisions
- Familiarity with safety and security regulations in a warehouse environment
- Proficiency with warehouse management systems (preferably SAP), as well as, Microsoft Office and other relevant software applications
- Experience with lean management principles and continuous improvement methodologies
