Scope of Role This role requires an individual to carry out various duties and responsibilities with a sense of urgency to support Boston Gear's on time delivery objectives while supporting machining, mechanical assembly, painting/packaging and the distribution of products. The position is “hands on” in a fast-paced, physically demanding assembly and machining environment and requires a supervisor who is willing and able to coach, develop and mentor as well as work alongside, their employees on a daily basis. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Supervisory responsibilities to include, but not limited to: planning, assigning, and directing work; administering and complying with Company policies and procedures. Managing attendance and approving ADP records in a timely manner for processing payroll Interviewing, onboarding, and training employees Managing performance, writing and conducting performance appraisals, and administering corrective actions Proactively responding to employee concerns to ensure high morale and maximum employee satisfaction. Facilitate, promote, support, and implement lean manufacturing initiatives that drive continuous improvements in safety, quality, delivery, and cost in the Assembly and Machining departments across the facility. Following the Regal Rexnord Business system, tools and methods. Lead and/or participate in Kaizen events and participate in daily Tier 1,2,3 meetings. Assist the Production Manager with executing strategic deployment of RBS objectives. Serve as an active member of the Safety Committee by leading a safety team and participating in monthly safety meetings, conducting safety/5S audits, and reenactments. Ensure a safe working environment by enforcing compliance with the plant’s Safety Policy and state and federal OSHA regulations. Evaluate production and quality problems, provide guidance and assistance with resolving issues, and facilitate actions to implement corrective actions, including technical support and instruction for new manufacturing procedures. Continuously seek out and recommend measures to improve efficiency, reduce costs, and improve quality. Coordinate and administer Quality Incident Investigations in order to problem solve costly incidents. Analyze and plan workforce utilization, workflow, and design of equipment layout and workspace for maximum efficiency. Fulfill administrative responsibilities as required by the role to include, but not limited to, developing and writing work instructions and job breakdowns, completing production reports and problem-solving / corrective action documents, and maintaining training/skills matrices. Other duties as assigned by management. Strong analytical ability to recognize the need for modification of procedures or processes, identify root cause with a Go and See mindset, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions where limited standardization or information exists. Demonstrated problem solving and critical thinking skills, including having a continuous improvement mindset and an advocate for change. This includes the ability to work with demanding and changing schedules, pressure for maximum output, solving varied and complex production problems requiring original and technical approaches and/or coordination with other departments. Highly productive with a strong sense of urgency and orientation to details, accuracy, and excellent outcomes. Results-oriented with a demonstrated ability to be self-directed and self-motivated, effectively manage time and multiple priorities, and meet deliverables in a timely manner. Strong interpersonal skills which foster teamwork and collaboration and develop high quality working relationships in order to influence, gain support, and achieve results. This includes a strong cooperation with production, engineering, and maintenance personnel, as well as external customers and vendors. Strong verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to effectively deliver and transfer knowledge of technical concepts and respond to questions. Willingness to be flexible and adapt to changes in customer demand, internal processes, delays or unexpected events in order to meet daily customer demand and on time delivery requirements, including performing any task required to meet department objectives. Demonstrated ability to maintain confidentiality and handle proprietary and sensitive information with integrity. Demonstrated safety orientation and compliance mindset. Intermediate to advanced level proficiency with MS Office software applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint). Willingness to be flexible by shifting hours or working extended hours, including weekends as required in order to support manufacturing needs. Willing and able to occasionally travel domestically or internationally up to 10%. Proven success in implementing process or product improvements. Education and Experience Requirements A High School diploma is required. Associate or higher-level degree is strongly desired. 2 or more years of progressive work experience in a manufacturing production environment, preferably in mechanical products (metal cutting industry and assembly required. A solid background in machining techniques in a machining role (including CNC programming) and mechanical assembly techniques is strongly desired. Prior supervisory experience of hourly production employees is strongly desired. PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Potential physical demands include but are not limited to: frequent sitting and occasional bending and stooping. Potential sensory demands include but are not limited to: hearing and seeing. Lifting and/or maneuvering of up to 30 pounds without assistance, or heavier loads with the assistance of a lifting device in order to set up test equipment. Must be able to work in a typical manufacturing facility and travel domestically outside facilities which could entail walking, climbing and moving around working equipment. WORK ENVIRONMENT: Majority of time is spent in a general office environment, but regular time will also be spent in a manufacturing production environment where personal protective safety equipment must be worn, and proper safety precautions must be observed.
