ASSISTANT VICE PRESIDENT, OPERATIONS, Operations

The Assistant Vice President for Operations, reporting directly to the Senior VP of Operations, is responsible for representing the interests and priorities of the Senior VP for Operations through effective communication, coordination, designated oversight, and strategic planning of the Senior VPs initiatives, priorities, and objectives. This will at times entail certain financial modeling and independent analysis of issues across the Senior VP portfolio. In addition, this position will help provide input, data, analysis, narrative, and visuals for presentations and discussions the Senior VP of Operations will have with the Board of Trustees and its various committees. This position serves and collaborates in an advisory and resource capacity to many senior staff within Operations and partners across the University to propose strategies, policies, procedures, and develop metrics that assist with the various departments within Operations. This position should be a thoughtful, data-driven leader that provides financial insights and recommendations to help leadership make informed decisions.

(Minimum education & experience level required): Bachelors degree (or equivalent) required and Masters degree required. 10 years in a related field required.

Skill requirements (include complexity of position):

• Extensive Excel/MS Office skills; Filemaker Pro knowledge; SAP preferred but not required.
• Understanding of higher education budget drivers, including building operational costs; debt, utilities, enrollment, financial aid, and fringe benefits.
• Interpersonal skills (include personal interaction): Experience in Leadership and working on a team.
• Ability to interact with all levels of senior management including Provost, Senior VP, and President.
• Confidential data: All information (written, verbal, electronic, etc.) that an employee encounters while working at Boston University is considered confidential. Will be exposed to and required to deal with highly confidential and sensitive material.
