Botkeeper is looking for an experienced Controller to join the team in our Boston office.  The Controller will plan and direct the accounting operations of the company.  We are seeking highly organized and detail-oriented candidates with 8+ years of relevant experience. Candidates should be willing to come in to the Boston office, located steps from South Station, at least twice each week. The Controller will play an integral role as the company continues to grow rapidly and will work closely with the Director of Finance and other key stakeholders.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

• Oversees the internal accounting department of the company, which includes accounts payable, accounts receivable, reconciliations, payroll, and consolidation of foreign subsidiary.

Duties/Responsibilities:

• Maintains a documented system of accounting policies and procedures; implements/maintains a system of controls over accounting transactions to minimize risk.
• Oversees the production of periodic financial reports; ensures that the reported results comply with generally accepted accounting principles.  Oversees the production of periodic SaaS reporting metrics and other key performance indicators.  
• Recommends benchmarks that will be used to measure the company’s performance.
• Produces the annual budget and forecasts; reports significant budget differences to management.
• Provides financial analysis, with emphasis on capital investments, pricing decisions, and contract negotiations.
• Works with external auditors and provides needed information for the annual audit.
• Ensures compliance with local, state, and federal government requirements.
• Performs other related duties as necessary or assigned.

Education and Experience:

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Business Administration required.
• 8 years or more of related experience required.

Requirements: 

• Work from the Boston office at least 2 days per week; remainder of work can be done remotely.
• Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
• Able to travel as needed (<10%)
