Duties and Responsibilities
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES: All staff members have a duty to cooperate with and furnish the NCAA, the conference office or the institution with truthful and complete information concerning involvement in or knowledge of rules violations.
Direct and supervise all aspects of the NCAA Division II compliance program; including CIAA, NCAA and institutional rules in the areas of recruitment, financial aid, amateurism, satisfactory academic progress, playing and practice seasons, and initial eligibility.
Work with the Office of Planning, Analysis and Accountability to complete EADA, NCAA-EADA, APR, ASR, IPEDS, USM and ATS reports pursuant to deadlines.
Input and monitor NCAA Squad Lists through Front Rush and CAI; NCAA Compliance Assistance Internet software.
Coordinate the recruitment activities of prospective student-athletes with head coaches. Work with the office of admission and financial aid to maximize institutional resources.
Manage playing and practice seasons, official and unofficial visits, camps and clinics, and complimentary ticket process.
Provide legislative and interpretive guidelines for department.
Responsible for regular rules education program for coaches, staff and student-athletes.
Working with financial aid, monitor all financial aid processes, which will include the annual renewal, and non-renewal process.
Prepare required waivers and appeals.
Manage grant-in-aids and National Letter of Intents.
Investigate, monitor and manage the processing of rule violations.
Represent the Department of Athletics as a liaison to the CIAA and NCAA.
Serve as the primary Judicial Officer for the Student Affairs Conduct Board and the Athletic Code of Conduct Board hearing both behavioral and academic policy violations of the Department of Athletics Code of Conduct.
Work with the institutions EEO officer and Institutional Research Director to develop and monitor athletic policies and procedures in relation to the rights and responsibilities of students as individuals and/or members of student organizations.
Assist the Vice President and the coaching staff with the development and maintenance of a positive working relationship with colleagues, student-athletes, parents, alumni, visitors and external communities. Assist with all internal compliance programs that impact the overall productivity and functionality of the athletics department.
Manage and maintain all compliance records for the department.
Perform other duties as assigned by the Vice President for Athletics and Recreation.
Minimum Qualifications
Education
Bachelor’s degree required; Masters preferred.
Experience
Minimum three (3) years experience in NCAA intercollegiate athletic compliance required. Strong interpersonal and communication skills required.
Knowledge Skills and Abilities
Proficiency with Word, Excel and Access. An appreciation of a culturally diverse student population. Must possess an ability to initiate and manage services and programs.
Conditions of Employment
Required to work some evenings, weekends and holidays.
