Position: Director of Maintenance
Reports to: General Manager
Primary Job Function:
The Director of Maintenance is responsible for the overall operation of the maintenance department personnel in performing aircraft inspections, repairs, overhauls, alterations, maintenance, and preventative maintenance.
Job Tasks and Responsibilities:
- Coordinate maintenance personnel schedules and ensure staffing is appropriate to accomplish all repair station functions
- Assist, supervise, and direct all aircraft maintenance personnel so work is accomplished on schedule and in accordance with the applicable Federal Aviation Regulations and repair station procedures
- Ensure maintenance personnel record and maintain maintenance records in compliance with IAW FAR part 43 and operator/air carrier manuals (i.e. Maintenance logs, software systems, etc…)
- Train maintenance personnel on standard operating procedures and safety protocol – ensuring all maintenance team members have the skills, training, tools, and equipment to operate in a safe and efficient manner
- Be an active participant of Bowling Green Flight Center’s safety program and promote a positive safety culture within the
Maintenance department
- Maintain a parts tracking system for all steps of the aircraft maintenance process and ensure all maintenance personnel utilize it in their work
- Manage tracking for tool control and foreign object damage (FOD) programs
- Regularly evaluate maintenance operations and implement changes and improvements as needed
- Lead, assist, or delegate special projects to team members with areas of expertise, such as bids for major repairs and alterations, specialized sheet metal work, specialized composite work, etc…
- Have a thorough working knowledge of all ATA codes
- Ensure maintenance facilities are clean and orderly
- Conduct annual performance evaluations for maintenance staff in a timely and efficient manner
- Other duties as assigned by your supervisor or manager
Education & Experience
- High school diploma (or GED or High School Equivalence Certificate)
- FAA issued Airframe and Powerplant endorsement required
- FAA Inspection Authorization endorsement required
- Must exhibit strong organization and communication skills
- Extensive knowledge of all aircraft mechanical systems functions and interactions, including aircraft accessories, components, and other hardware
- Candidates should have a minimum of 10 years of documented experience performing maintenance on general aviation and/or corporate aircraft
- Must own basic set of hand tools
- Avionics experience preferred
Physical Demands:
- Frequent standing, walking, bending, stooping, reaching, pushing, pulling
- Ability to lift/carry up to 50 lbs routinely and up to 100 lbs occasionally
- Frequent work in small places, extreme temperatures, heights above six feet, and noisy environments
