What are the responsibilities and job description for the Weld Trainer position at Bowling Green Metalforming?
Objective:
Responsible for ensuring all welding for both new and existing programs is compliant with customer weld specifications as noted on customer prints and / or target agreements and is required to alert leadership of all non conformances. Completes training of new welders as warranted by human resources department in conjuncture with the operations team. This position will need to work rotating shifts as needed to complete training and work with full team.
Responsibilities:
- Know and understand Bowling Green Metalforming Quality and Environmental policies.
- Facilitate classroom and on the job team member weld/weld inspection training in a fair and consistent manner. Perform maintenance on all Welder Performance Qualifications Test Records and Visual Weld Inspection Qualifications.
- Follows and supports and Magna’s operating principles.
- Establish/ Follow all core training documentation and testing to meet Customer, Mafact, and CQI-15 requirements., and other internal welding requirements (e.g. , Tooling/Dies).
- Implement OJT competency, follow-up training (at inspection stations) after classroom training is completed for training effectiveness.
- Ensure lessons learned are shared, effective and cascaded across all similar processes.
- Monitors and uses judgement to provide instruction and work direction in order to help facilitate a learning environment to all team members.
- Be proficient in all types of welding on various Ferrous and Non-Ferrous Materials for both manual, semi-automatic and automatic welding processes. Have theoretical knowledge of thermal and mechanical cutting and gouging operations.
- Understand and effectively communicates all training competency and meet all requirements defined for each assigned program.
- Work with weld engineer on continuous learning of new welding technologies in order to keep BGM at the forefront of welding globally.
- Follow all proper documentation requirements for IATF/ Mafact/CQI and customer requirements.
- Support Quality Department/ Weld Engineering in auditing of current weld processes for IATF and Customer Specifications
- Support Quality and Engineering with document support for new programs or EC’s as needed.
- Other duties as required to support customer and internal requirements.
Education and/or Experience:
- High School diploma or GED
- Post-secondary welding education preferred, or related experience
- Minimum 5 years of welding experience with various types of welding equipment, a solid understanding of basic mathematics, blueprint reading, fitting techniques, ASME / AWS welding symbols/ terms definitions, and knowledge of Non-Destructive and Destructive Testing techniques preferred.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Computer skills; proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel preferred
- Minimum of 3-year experience in a manufacturing environment preferred
- Presentation capability in front of audience
- Operate standard office equipment preferred.
- Previous training experience preferred.

Pay: $24.35 - $33.52 per hour
