What are the responsibilities and job description for the Civil EIT position at Bowman Engineering and Consulting, Inc.?
Summary of Role:
The primary purpose of this role is to provide engineering support to licensed / registered professional engineers in the development of transportation (roads / highways, airports, marine ports, etc.), transit (rail, bus), and buildings / facilities (civil and site). Engineering support includes activities within program / project management, planning, preliminary engineering, final design, plans, specifications, estimates, scheduling, and/or construction engineering and inspection. Engineering disciplines include, but are not limited to design of roadway, light rail, bus, bicycle & pedestrian, traffic engineering & operations, hydrology & hydraulics, facility civil site and utilities.
Role Responsibilities:
1. Perform engineering work including, but not limited to researching and applying industry guidelines, performing calculations required for engineering design, preparing engineering reports, reviewing surveys for accuracy / completeness, self-checking work for accuracy, checking other’s work for accuracy, developing preliminary and final designs, plan sheets, technical specifications, cost estimates.
2. Perform engineering design and drafting using Bentley OpenRoads Designer and/or AutoCAD, or other software, as applicable.
3. Prepare project development (design and/or construction) schedules using Primavera or other software, as applicable.
4. Attend and participate in technical meetings, including research and preparation of technical agendas, preparing engineering exhibits and hand-outs, taking notes, and preparing draft meeting notes.
5. Attend and participate in applicable professional organizations.
6. Participate and contribute to business development activities, including but not limited to potential client reach-outs (as approved by supervisor), and technical write-ups for statement of qualifications.
7. Attend applicable training as requested or approved by supervisor.
8. Keep up-to-date in the latest engineering software and/or latest engineering technologies associated with transportation and transit.
9. Proactively and diligently work to obtain licensure to become a Professional Engineer in the State of Texas.
Education:
Accredited Degree in Civil Engineering or related field
Must have EIT Certificate
0-5 years' experience in Civil Engineering field
Travel:
Work may require out-of-city travel (approximately 10%), as well as travel to/from client meetings.
