CWI
As a CWI/QCI reporting to the Managing Member of Bowman Steel Company, the CWI/QCI is responsible to conduct inspections, and identify and supervise repairs. Responsibilities include inspection and testing of structural steel during erection on general commercial building sites. VT of welds done on site, inspect decking and bolted connections. Daily communication is required with site contractors, Forman's and Superintendents. Must perform observations, inspections and tests of building construction projects and document findings in accordance with company procedures. You should have a sound understanding of building construction practices.
Position Responsibilities:

- Responsible for ensuring projects are completed in accordance with applicable codes, job
- Specs and company procedures.
- In conjunction with the Project Superintendent, direct and coordinate the day-to-day
- Management and construction activities of steel erection projects.
- Resolve day-to-day issues that may arise to ensure a timely, safe, and profitable project.
- Interface with other company departments as necessary, which may include schedules, budget
- changes, material and equipment expenditures, estimating, payroll, personnel matters,
- Construction, steel groups and all subsidiaries.
- Ensure WPS’s are available and followed.
- Qualifying new hires to D1.1 standards.
- Calibration of welding machines.
- Training/ overseeing PIV testing.
- Regular and reliable attendance at work
Education/Requirements
- Strong oral and written communication skills.
- Ability to interpret engineering and construction plans/specifications.
- Basic math and computer skills
- Though not required, at least 3 years of welding experience is preferred.
- Minimum Requirement – High School Diploma.
- Have an active AWS/CWI certification with 3 years of inspection experience or, in the case of a
- QCI, is competent to perform inspections based off training and/or experience.
- Be able to pass Jaeger J-2 eye examination with at least one eye.
- Documentation, Field Reports utilizing Microsoft Office Excel, Outlook, Word
- Be familiar with AWS D1.1, AWS D1.3, RCSC, SDI and AISC standards and codes.
- Valid driver’s license with a clean record.
- Ability to travel out of state as required.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $70,000.00 - $100,000.00 per year
