PRIMARY FUNCTION:
Plans, develops, and oversees implementation of programing at stand-alone Clubs.
Responsible for supervising program department personnel and volunteers.
Serves as principle staff for program development under the direction of the Club
Director; implements concepts, systems and program outlines based upon community
needs and the long-range program strategy of the BGCC.
KEY ROLES (Essential Job Responsibilities):
- Plans, develops, and implements BGCC policies and procedures for the effective operation of the program department as directed by the Club Director.
- Supervises program personnel. Some duties to include: scheduling hours, assigning and evaluating work, providing discipline, holding regularly scheduled meetings, and evaluating performance.
- Allocates and monitors work assigned to program volunteers and staff, providing ongoing feedback and regular feedback. Identifies and support training and development opportunities for volunteers and staff.
- Assists the Club Director in developing the program department budget. Purchases program equipment and supplies.
- Establishes and maintains a working relationship with social, educational, health and recreational agencies in order to provide effective service programs for Club members.
- Increase visibility of Club programs via posting of daily schedule, announcements of upcoming events and the dissemination of timely information for the development of advertising and promotion through mailings, fliers and media releases.
- Implements a recruitment strategy for member outreach. Promotes and stimulates interest in Club activities and events. Helps to ensure that Club meets daily and yearly membership goals.
- Consults with parents concerning member and Club issues.
- Meets regularly with Club Director to report on program operations, short- and long-term departmental needs, and required improvements. Submits quarterly program outlines.
- Collects, maintains, updates, accurately documents and evaluates statistical records for services provided, total number of members served and units of service.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s degree in Social Work, Education, Urban Studies or related field from an accredited program.
- A minimum of five years’ work experience in Boys & Girls Club or similar organization planning and supervising activities based on the developmental needs of young people.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Group leadership skills, including an understanding of group dynamics.
- Demonstrated organizational and project management abilities including managing multiple tasks and crisis management.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook.)
ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITION
- Must pass criminal background check which includes Livescan fingerprints
- Proof of COVID-19 vaccination unless an exemption for medical condition or sincerely-held religious belief is granted.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS/WORK ENVIRONMENT:
Normal internal office environment. Occasional need to travel to club locations in Chicago. Ability to bend, squat, climb stairs and lift frequently. Ability to lift up to 25 pounds occasionally.
