Read, write, and speak so as to communicate and follow written/oral instructions. Basic knowledge of sanitary food preparation procedures and general equipment use and cleaning. At least 2 years food service experience in a health care setting preferred.
- Must be able to see at 20/40 corrected in each eye and hear (hearing aid acceptable).
- Must be able to stand on your feet continuously for an 8-hour shift.
- Ambulate through kitchen.
- Able to bend and lift objects up to a maximum of 10-15 lbs. or over 20 lbs. with assistance.
- Operate food service and dishwashing equipment safely.
- Prepare beverages and set up beverage stations daily.
- Set up meal service timely according to schedule.
- Must maintain and stock utensils for daily meal service.
- Must serve patients, staff, and visitors in a professional manner.
- Washing dishes and putting up clean and sanitized dishes to appropriate areas.
- Clean kitchen and equipment as needed or according to routine cleaning schedule. Will obey all sanitation and safety rules and complete assigned weekly cleaning duties.
- Assist with cleaning projects, sweeping, mopping, garbage removal as assigned.
- Stock and straighten storerooms, coolers, and freezers as directed.
- Attend in-service classes as required.
- Must maintain a professional demeanor and appearance, must not appear impaired or disoriented, but rather must present coherent and articulate speech, kept appearance, alert, oriented, and responsive to patients' needs and concerns.
- Regular attendance.
- Must be able to work in a cooperative manner with co-workers, managers, patients, and prospective patients.
- Must be able to work in constant state of alertness to perform the job in a safe manner.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Food Service Director.
- Must obtain food handler’s certification.
