The optometrist provides eye care services and focuses upon maintaining the health and development of the patient’s eye and vision.
Qualifications

Bachelor’s Degree in a related scientific field
Doctor of Optometry (O.D) Degree from applicable school
National board of Examiners in Optometry Licensure
American Board of Optometry Certification
Optometry Licensure in the state of West Virginia

Essential Duties
- Conducts routine eye exams for clients.
- Maintains patient records regarding diagnosis, treatment plans, and progress.
- Prescribes medications to treat ocular disease disorders.
- Performs pre and post operation checks.
- Assesses patients for signs of diseases and refers them to appropriate specialists.
- Promotes healthy vision by counseling and educating patients.
- Assesses and intervenes for eye care emergencies.
