Position: Graphic Designer
Status: Full time – Salary $55K (Hybrid) Preference given to candidates in Brevard County, though remote work is possible for the right candidate.

POSITION OVERVIEW
The growing marketing team is seeking a creative graphic designer! This full-time position is critical for advancing Brevard Zoo’s mission by creating captivating designs that engage target audiences across various platforms. The ideal candidate is a self-motivated team player with a strong grasp of graphic fundamentals, typography, and design layout, capable of producing original ideas and content for multiple mediums. Attention to detail, a keen aesthetic sense, and the ability to efficiently manage multiple projects across departments are essential for this role.
A digital portfolio/website and resume must be submitted with the application to be considered for the position.
QUALIFICATIONS
EDUCATION AND RELEVANT EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
REQUIRED:
· Minimum of three years of experience in the graphic design industry
· High proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop in particular)
PREFERRED/DESIRED:
· Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in graphic arts or design
· Previous experience at a nonprofit, cultural institution, or attraction is a plus
· Motion graphics experience is a plus
· Website design experience is a plus
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES
Essential Functions:
· Collaborate closely with Zoo team members to brainstorm, conceptualize, and develop new design campaigns and elements for a variety of platforms, including digital and print
· Ensure consistency and cohesion in the use and display of logos, fonts, colors, and other branding elements
· Facilitate clear communication and collaborate with various Zoo departments from project inception to completion.
· Collaborate with freelance designers, printers, and external agencies on various projects, ensuring compliance with guidelines, timelines, deliverables, and budgets
· Manage multiple design projects simultaneously, prioritizing tasks and meeting deadlines
· Incorporate feedback from team members and revise designs as needed to meet project goals
· Ensure designs are accessible and comply with relevant accessibility standards
· Maintain brand documents and templates to ensure brand consistency
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
· Proven ability to multitask, prioritize, and manage projects with diverse design requirements, strict deadlines, and budget constraints
· Ability to constructively accept team feedback, respond promptly to new information and directions, and revise designs as needed
· Proficiency in quickly and efficiently editing images and design assets
· Familiarity with current visual design trends and their application
· Understanding of accessible design principles
· Knowledge of photo and font usage rights
· Effective time management skills
· Deadline driven
· Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
PHYSICAL DEMANDS/WORK ENVIRONMENT
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
(L) Light work
Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force as frequently as needed to move objects. If the use of arm/leg controls require exertion of forces greater than that for sedentary work and the worker sits most of the time, the job is rated as light work.
POTENTIAL ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS/HAZARDS:
Indoor office environment most often with frequent movement outdoors. Exposure to extreme heat and weather conditions. Requires Sitting, Standing, Walking, Bending, Stooping, Kneeling, Finger Dexterity, Talking, Hearing, and Visual Acuity frequently.
WORK SCHEDULE:
May be required to work weekends and nights if necessary.
