What are the responsibilities and job description for the Quality Supervisor position at Briess Industries?
Responsible for coordination of the malting and roasting laboratory personnel and resources to achieve the needs of the Malting Quality Control team, and the Center of Malting Excellence department at our Manitowoc facility. Act as liaison with operations to communicate product status, quality control testing needs, problems, and improvements in a timely manner.
Responsibilities
- Oversee quality technicians conducting appropriate quality tests on incoming, production and shipment samples for all Briess divisions according to company procedures. Compile, compute and assure distribution of data from test results.
- Keep malt quality lab procedures up to date and effective by auditing current procedures and investigates, recommends, and implements new and improved methods of analysis. Assist in annual quality documentation audits.
- Ensures laboratories obtain accurate and precise data by monitoring performance. Coordinates inter- and intra-lab collaborative studies.
- Identifies and corrects lab equipment, procedures, or training if results are not within tolerances.
- Oversees control of release of conforming and non-conforming finished goods.
- Ensures that lab operations remain within planned budget. Evaluates cost savings opportunities with vendors and continuously evaluates secondary supply sources.
- Administers inspection policies under management guidance and exercises judgment in dealing with unusual cases referred by staff. Resolves problems by consulting with laboratory employees, technical service, operations, IT and maintenance as needed.
- Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing networks; participating in professional societies.
- Occasional travel to technical conferences and symposiums may be required.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in a scientific discipline, specialized training in quality analysis and 5 years of experience, or equivalent. Experience in Microsoft Office Suite required.
