The Assistant Director would assist in managing the day-to-day operations of the programs. They will help in establishing and sustaining a positive learning environment for children and providing reasonable accommodations that allow all enrolled children to have successful and positive experiences. The Assistant Director shall assist in building and maintaining client satisfaction, adhering to all licensing regulations, ensuring facilities are maintained, and managing and supporting staff.
Program Management:
Maintain strong leadership, positive interpersonal skills and an approachable demeanor. Maintain professional and respectful written and verbal communication. Maintain a professional appearance, attitude and work ethic. Comply with all licensing regulations. Maintain documentation for scheduled and unscheduled licensing inspections. Manage billing for child enrollment.
Assist in planning community activities that encourage family involvement in Bright Foundations programming. Such events should provide a feeling of community and be inclusive to all.
Complete duties when other staff are unavailable or fail to perform duties. Assist with cook responsibilities until a cook is hired.
Monitor kitchen, office and classroom supplies in the absence of the cook or Curriculum Director.
Staff Management:
Post position openings. Schedule and preform interviews. Notify Director and owners of any staffing concerns such as cause for termination. Assist in facilitating professional development hours. Assist with staff meetings.
Manage scheduling to ensure ratios are always met. Ensure staff are meeting high standards of care. Work cooperatively with the Curriculum Director to conduct observations and performance reviews regularly to determine if staff are meeting expectations. Document observations and reviews. Preform follow up with constructive feedback, accept input from staff also, implement corrective actions when necessary. Mediate conflict resolution between staff members. Help keep staff morale high and find ways to encourage, motivate and support staff.
Client Satisfaction:
Respond promptly to all verbal and written communications including but not limited to: phone calls, voicemails, emails, Facebook messages and BrightWheel messages. Schedule and preform tours for prospective clients. Communicate with guardians regarding their children and program policies. Be welcome to guardian feedback. Encourage clients to participate in program activities. Address client concerns professionally respectfully. Work to find solutions that comply with program policy and leave the conflict feeling satisfies. Provide reasonable accommodations for children when it is feasible to do so. Monitor and manage tuition payments and additional fees.
Facility Management:
Ensure the interior of the facility remains clean and orderly. Ensure and safe, happy and stimulating environment for children. Conduct playground safety inspections. Notify Director and owners of any safety or repair concerns both indoors and outdoors.
Maintain educational requirements of completing 20 hours of continuing education annually. Ensure CPR/First Aid certification remains up to date.
Responsible for picking up children after school. This includes having a valid drivers license and being able to drive a 15 passenger van. For insurance purposes the age requirement for this is 21 with a clean driving record or age 25.
Sick Leave:
Assistant Director will be entitled to sick leave of one (1) week or forty (40) hours per year in accordance with company's sick leave policy upon hiring. Sick leave will expire at the end of each year it was issued.
Hours:
Assistant Director shall work a minimum of 40 hours per week with additional hours needed as business dictates to include staff meetings and training hours. Working hours must be flexible to help cover duties when other staff have failed to fulfil their duties or a substitute has not been acquired. Standard hours would be 8:00am to 4:30pm
Dress Code:
Employees shall maintain a professional appearance. Clothing shall be reasonable for the nature of the position and allow for free movement. Clothing shall be free of inappropriate content. Jeans and leggings may be worn provided they are well kept from large holes or tears. Shorts may be worn during the summer months as long as they are fingertip length and support a professional appearance.
