Title: BFFK Tutor
Reports to: BFFK Executive Director
Type: Part-time, Internship
Salary: $10:00 - $12:00/hour
Position Description:
Provide individual and small group tutoring to students in the Tutorial Center. Assist students in improving academic achievement by meeting with them on a regular basis to clarify learning problems and work on study skills. Other assistance might include homework help: reviewing class material, discussing the text, predicting test questions, formulating ideas for papers, or working on solutions to problems. Tutors are not expected to know everything about the subject for which they tutor.
Responsibilities:
- Provide academic support during assigned hours
- Perform front desk activities, including scheduling, record-keeping, and tutoring-coordination
- Develop a full working knowledge of academic skills development materials and strategies
- Maintain professional contact with all tutees and the Academic Success Center
- Modify and develop your tutoring skills to meet individual tutee needs and to adjust to the learning styles of your students
- Represent the BFFK services while demonstrating courteous, professional behavior
- Participate in BFFK staff meetings and training sessions
- Other Duties as assigned

Qualifications:
- Strong GPA (preferably B or higher in subject tutoring)
- Excellent communication skills
- Adaptable to a fast-paced work environment
- Ability to work with students one-on-one and in small groups
- Available to work at least 6 hours per week during the academic year
- Associates Degree preferred
- Teaching Certificate preferred

COVID-19 considerations:
Students are required to wash their hands and wear masks throughout tutorial sessions. Other tutors and staff are also required to wear masks throughout the facility.
