Located in Uptown Phoenix (7th Street & Camelback), Brightside Studios is a beautiful, spacious and lively hang out spot for creatives to create, caffeinate, and chill. We are more than just an open art studio. Brightside Studios is the dream-space for Phoenix artists to thrive.

Along with great music, art store, and delicious coffee for the public, Brightside Studios offers a large creative space for traditional artists of all types. Brightside members (and walk-ins) have access to the entire studio and can use any of the in-house equipment and supplies to create their next masterpiece or gallery collection.

Weekly classes offer a creative outlet for something more structured or a unique night out with friends, while the café is a place to recharge, study, network or meet with your next client.

We are looking for Baristas / Coffee Artists to prepare and serve hot and cold beverages, including various types of coffee, tea, beer and wine. Light food prep for lunch, dinner and happy hour menu. Barista responsibilities include educating customers on our drinks menu, making recommendations based on their preferences, special items and taking orders. To be successful in this role, you should have customer service skills and knowledge of how brewing equipment operates. You will also need to be comfortable answering basic questions about studio memberships and classes. Ultimately, you’ll ensure an excellent experience for our guests. You should be able to work various shifts. Note: You must be at least 19 years of age to serve alcoholic beverages.

Responsibilities

• Greet customers as they enter and scan members into studio space

• Help customers navigate drink menus and answer their questions regarding ingredients

• Take orders while paying attention to details (e.g. preferences of coffee blend, dairy and sugar ratios)

• Prepare beverages and food following recipes

• Serve beverages and prepared food, like cookies, pastries and muffins

• Receive and process payments (cash and credit cards)

• Keep the bar area clean

• Maintain stock of clean mugs, glasses and utensils

• Check if brewing equipment operates properly and report any maintenance needs

• Comply with health and safety regulations

• Communicate customer feedback to managers and recommend new menu items

Skills

• Flexibility to work various shifts including weekends, evenings and holidays

• Understanding of hygiene and food safety rules

• Basic math skills

• Ability to gauge customers’ preferences

• Excellent communication skills

• Relevant work experience or training with Clover POS / Kisi Dashboard is a bonus!

• This is can be a part-time position not to exceed 32 hours per week - or full time with health benefits & paid vacation.

• Starting salary for this position is $13 per hour (depending on relevant experience) tips

Brightside Studios is committed to reducing the risk of spreading COVID-19. The entire premise is designed to allow for social distancing including the studio space, classroom and café. Regular sanitation of all surfaces, tools/utensils and proper hygiene routines are in place. Safety program training is held regularly, and personal protective equipment (PPE) is provided to all staff.
