We have an exciting opening at our Alewife Cambridge site for an intern to perform laboratory work that will enable our early drug discovery activities.
This position would be in the Discovery and Translational Proteomics group within the Small Molecule Drug Discovery Department and is focused on biochemistry and mass spectrometry-based proteomics.
Key Responsibilities
- Determine targets of small molecules using quantitative proteomics including proteomics sample preparation, LC-MS/MS analysis, and high density data analysis.
- Culture mammalian cells, treat with compounds, and perform compound enrichments using biochemical techniques.
- Record experiments, results, and characterization data in laboratory notebooks.
- Participate and contribute during scientific discussions, meetings, and presentations.
- Contribute to a research effort that may be amenable to publication.
Qualifications & Experience
- Two years of chemistry (analytical/instrumental analysis required; mass spectrometry experience desired) course work at the college level, a strong academic record (≥ 3.0 GPA) and at least three semesters of laboratory course work and/or research.
- Self-motivated to learn and contribute, demonstrated examples of independent productivity and team-based interpersonal skills.
- Enthusiasm for science, laboratory work, and drug discovery.
- Prior mass spectrometry lab experience in the academic setting or biotechnology/pharmaceutical industry desired, but not required.
