Overview

DMS Inc., a BRMi company, is a skilled and motivated LAN/Network Specialist I to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for managing and maintaining the local area network (LAN) infrastructure and providing support for network-related issues. You will collaborate closely with the IT team to ensure optimal network performance and connectivity. The ideal candidate should have a solid understanding of networking principles, possess strong troubleshooting skills, and be familiar with LAN technologies.

Responsibilities

Network Infrastructure Management:

  • Install, configure, and maintain LAN equipment, including switches, routers, firewalls, and wireless access points.
  • Monitor network performance, troubleshoot issues, and implement necessary solutions to ensure optimal performance and uptime.
  • Conduct regular audits and assessments to identify areas for improvement and recommend network enhancements.
  • Collaborate with vendors to procure network equipment and coordinate maintenance activities.
  • Network Support and Troubleshooting:
  • Respond to network-related incidents, service requests, and inquiries from end-users and resolve them in a timely manner.
  • Diagnose and troubleshoot network issues using appropriate tools and methodologies.
  • Perform root cause analysis for recurring network problems and implement preventive measures.
  • Provide technical guidance and support to end-users on network-related matters.
  • Network Security:
  • Implement and maintain network security measures, including firewalls, intrusion detection systems, and access control lists.
  • Monitor network traffic for potential security breaches and take appropriate actions to mitigate risks.
  • Stay updated with the latest network security threats and implement best practices to safeguard the network infrastructure.

Documentation and Reporting:

  • Create and maintain network documentation, including network diagrams, configurations, and standard operating procedures.
  • Generate reports on network performance, incidents, and trends to identify areas for improvement.
  • Maintain an inventory of network equipment, licenses, and warranties.

Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field. Equivalent work experience may be considered.
  • Minimum 2 years of relevant experience
  • Proven experience in LAN administration, network troubleshooting, and network security.
  • In-depth knowledge of LAN technologies, such as Ethernet, VLANs, and spanning tree protocols.
  • Familiarity with network monitoring and management tools, such as Wireshark, SNMP, and Syslog.
  • Strong understanding of TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, and routing protocols (e.g., OSPF, BGP).
  • Experience with network security practices and technologies, including firewalls, VPNs, and access control.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to work under pressure.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to effectively collaborate with team members and end-users.
